Today Phil Munts continued to speak about Elijah.
A duel between the Gods..
Phil told us that:
For generations, the Israelite followed God (when they had a good leader)
Or they followed pagan false gods (when they had a bad leader or no leader at all)
Now here we can see that Elijah is confronting the Israelites with a very tough question!
Who did they believe was God? perhaps they really didn’t know. Or they weren’t ready to give him an answer.
God wanted the Israelites to know that He is God, that they turned their hearts back to him.
They still battled between the Gods even if they surely know that Gods punishment for false prophecy was death!n
After that battle The Lord gave Elijah a great victory ! God and Elijah won one of the biggest duels of all time. And as a result, God’s place was restored in the hearts of many Israelites.
The scripture tells us that the fire consumed the wood, the water and even the stones! Wow what a fire! If you sometimes in your life have made a fire and put stones around it, you notice they get black, but consumed! no way.
God wants to leave no doubt that He really is the God He says He is
